Auroville is located in Tamil Nadu, about 12 km north of Puducherry and 150 km south of Chennai.

- Nearest airport: Chennai International Airport (~150 km) — best-connected
- Closer option: Puducherry Airport (~15 km) — limited flights, mainly from Bangalore/Hyderabad
- From Chennai airport, take a taxi or bus to Auroville (~3–3.5 hrs)

- Nearest major station: Villupuram Junction (~35 km) — well-connected to Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi
- Puducherry station (~15 km) — slower local trains, but convenient
- From either station, take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to Auroville

- Regular buses from Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad to Puducherry (TNSTC / private sleepers)
- From Puducherry bus stand, local buses or autos go directly to Auroville (~30 min)
