Best Time to Visit Spiti Valley

āœ… Peak Season: June – September

  • Roads are open (Manali–Spiti via Rohtang & Kunzum Pass)
  • Temperature: 10°C – 25°C (day), can drop near 0°C at night
  • Best for trekking, monastery visits, and sightseeing
  • July–August = lush greenery but possible landslides on Manali route

šŸŒØļø Winter: October – March

  • Spiti is cut off from Manali side (Kunzum Pass closes ~Oct)
  • Shimla–Kaza road (via Kinnaur) stays open longer but risky
  • Temperature drops to -25°C to -30°C
  • Unique experience — frozen rivers, snow villages, fewer tourists
  • Only for experienced cold-weather travelers

🌸 Shoulder Season: May & October

  • May: Roads just opening, sparse crowds, snow still visible
  • October: Festivals, harvest season, stunning golden landscapes — highly recommended if you can handle cold nights

Recommended Window

Mid-June to mid-September is the sweet spot — all passes open, manageable weather, full connectivity.

If you're flying in, base yourself at Kaza and use it as a hub for Key Monastery, Chandratal Lake, Langza, and Komic villages.
