Best Time to Visit Spiti Valley
ā Peak Season: June – September
- Roads are open (Manali–Spiti via Rohtang & Kunzum Pass)
- Temperature: 10°C – 25°C (day), can drop near 0°C at night
- Best for trekking, monastery visits, and sightseeing
- July–August = lush greenery but possible landslides on Manali route
šØļø Winter: October – March
- Spiti is cut off from Manali side (Kunzum Pass closes ~Oct)
- Shimla–Kaza road (via Kinnaur) stays open longer but risky
- Temperature drops to -25°C to -30°C
- Unique experience — frozen rivers, snow villages, fewer tourists
- Only for experienced cold-weather travelers
šø Shoulder Season: May & October
- May: Roads just opening, sparse crowds, snow still visible
- October: Festivals, harvest season, stunning golden landscapes — highly recommended if you can handle cold nights
Recommended Window
Mid-June to mid-September is the sweet spot — all passes open, manageable weather, full connectivity.
If you're flying in, base yourself at Kaza and use it as a hub for Key Monastery, Chandratal Lake, Langza, and Komic villages.
